UB welcomes 130 trained gardeners

This week 130 gardeners graduated from a new two-week gardener training course that was initiated as part of efforts to increase the number of green spaces in the capital city. The course was organized by the Ulaanbaatar City Governor’s Office in cooperation with teachers of the Eco Mongol Erdene Vocational Training Center and of Ulaanbaatar University. The course enrolled 200 participants.

Ninety of the course participants were officials of the Ulaanbaatar City Maintenance Authority, while 10 were officers of the National Park in Ulaanbaatar. The remainder included officers of environmental organizations.

The Director of the Eco Mongol Erdene Vocational Training Center, L.Erdenetugs, explained the course saying, “Organizations and companies are offering positions to gardeners who have graduated from the training course, which shows that this profession is in great demand in Mongolia. It is impossible to develop green areas without professional gardeners. Our center has decided to hold the training each year.”
