Mongolia to revise investment policy

The Government of Mongolia and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) are jointly working together to release a report about the investment environment in Mongolia in 2013.

The Ministry of Economic Development will hold a National discussion forum in the Kempinski Palace Hotel on Wednesday March 27th.

Over 100 participants from the Ministry of Economic Development and other agencies, embassy representatives of the biggest bidder countries, international organizations, private sectors and NGOs will be present at the discussion forum. The aim of the report is to analyze regulations related to investment and the investment environment in Mongolia in order to improve the investment environment and regulations and benefits to the country.

Official advice by UNCTAD will be outlined in the report in order to attract foreign direct investment and improve the likelihood of a positive outcome. The report will be essential to Mongolia to help it pass the National strategic act on investment policy.

The Prime Minister N.Altankhuyag received Supachai Panitchpakdi, the Director-General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) on Monday. He thanked Panitchpakdi for analyzing Mongolia’s investment policy and for giving advice, and said his government is focusing on investing the spheres able to produce the nationally branded products–cashmere, wool, leather, dairy and meat products, and tourism.
