Mongolia ranked 15th in top places to go

The New York Times has ranked Mongolia at 15th place in its list of ‘The 46 Places to Go in 2013.’

The article recommends Mongolia for its “untouched countryside” and for its growing attractions in Ulaanbaatar. It notes that Mongolia’s limited tourism infrastructure has kept tourist numbers low until now, but that the government is working to change that. The article says that the government has set a goal of 1 million annual overseas tourists by 2015, which is roughly double the number who visited in 2011.

The article lists the top ten places to go in 2013 as: Rio De Janeiro, Marseille; Nicaragua; Accra, Ghana; Bhutan; Amsterdam; Houston; Rossland, British Columbia; New Delhi; and Istanbul.
