It is determined that Golf course land was illegally granted

Primary Administrative Court heard the case of a South Korean invested Tuul River Countryside company was illegally granted land license for golf course in the river basin on Wednesday March 13th.

The Administrative Court determined that the foreign invested company was illegally granted 60 hectares land claiming to build golf-course but also illegally extended the lad up to 129 hectares. The company targeted to build golf-course at the beautifully scenic place called “Haliuriin Bulan”, located on the backside of Mt.Bayanzurkh in front of the Gachuurt village of Bayanzurkh district’s 20th sub-district. The governor of Bayanzurkh district, E.Monkh-Ochir, gave the owner’s license on May 9, 2007, based on decision no. 130.

By doing so, the officials didn’t realize they were breaking the “Law of Land Owning”, and giving out a fresh water-source land.

Tuul River, which required a boat to cross it at the time, has now decreased to the level of a small creek. The land purchase was publicly criticized and an investigation was started in 2008.

Mongolian Environmental Law Association reclaimed a billion MNT from South Korean invested Tuul River Countryside company for caused damage to environment of 129 hectares area. But the Tuul River Countryside company announced that the it was demolished a few days before the trial.
