Battuul faces 25 years sentence

The Battuul case, where a woman brought her teacher from the USA and shot him on a mountain will be judged soon. Deputy Prosecutor has now finished checking the case and it will be transferred to the Supreme court.

When the Deputy Prosecutor, Mr. Sagsai was asked about how many years penalty the main offender was given he answered, “She has been sentenced to death by the law. But she was given a 25 years jail sentence because a woman cannot be sentenced to death by Mongolian law”.

Miss Battuul has been detained since last March in a detention center 461st. She stated that she doesn’t have any complaints. She says she has accepted her crime. In the case, Battuul studied in Taiwan and brought her teacher Mr. John Martin Keating with her to Mongolia. The day after arriving she shot him after bringing him to the mountain of Erdene sum on January of 1st 2011.
