247 lamps lit for Valentines day

Today, 14th February, it is Valentine`s day. This day has been popularly observed in Mongolia, particularly among teenagers, for the past decade.

Annually many performances, concerts and parties are dedicated to this day in Mongolia. 

For this year there will be 247 lamps lit on the Central Square of Sukhbaatar this evening. For Mongolian teenagers 247 is an abbreviation of “I love you”. During the ceremony for Valentine ’s Day a winner will be given 247 roses.

Currently half of the 247 couples have received invitations to attend the lamp lighting ceremony.

The ceremony is being organized by the NGO “Only One” and the invitations are being issued via Facebook.
